The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division will offer free basic boating classes in April with locations across the state.
During the course, participants will learn such information as how to safely operate a vessel, how to navigate the state’s waterways during the day and at night, and how to handle boating emergencies. In addition, the instructor will cover the legal requirements of boating. Classes are open to anyone who is at least 12 years old, the minimum age to take the test and obtain an Alabama vessel license, which is required for anyone to operate a motorized vessel on state waterways.
Anyone interested in one of the ALEA classes should email name, address and phone number to class coordinator. (Participants may want to bring along a pen/pencil and highlighter.)
