CLANTON- The Alabama Emergency Management Agency will offer much needed assistance to the State of Georgia. During the month of September, Georgia experienced record amounts of rain in a short period of time leading to massive and wide-spread flooding.
AEMA will send Public Assistance Coordinators from its recovery section. The employees will be working closely with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency staff. Their mission will be assisting affected local governments in their recovery efforts. The teams will be on assignment for as long as 30 days. The first team will depart Tuesday morning (October 6th),
"Anytime we can assist our neighbors, we are more than willing", said AEMA Director Brock Long. "Although we are supporting them through an Emergency Management Agreement Compact (EMAC) mission, my staff will walk away with experience they can put to use here at home the next time we are faced with a similar situation."
EMAC is a national interstate mutual aid agreement that enables states to share resources during a time of disaster.
