Montgomery, AL – Food Service Management Companies (FSMCs) that plan to act as vendors for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) fiscal year 2011 Summer Food Service Program for Alabama’s children must register with the Child Nutrition Section of the Alabama Department of Education. Registration should be completed on or before February 14, 2011.
The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals to children from areas of economic need at qualified public or private non-profit, nonresidential institutions and residential camps sites during the summer months.
USDA regulations require that companies providing food for the Summer Food Service Program must be reputable and able to meet the terms of its contracts. In addition, food service management companies must, at the time of registration, provide the state agency with detailed information on its operation for the past two years.
