Montgomery, Ala ─ 2009 Accountability Data will be released to the public during the Alabama Board of Education’s monthly K-12 meeting, at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, in the auditorium of the Gordon Persons Building at 50 N. Ripley Street in Montgomery. The meeting is open to the public.
State Board of Education members, State Superintendent of Education Joe Morton, and other State Department of Education staff will provide data and analysis, and respond to questions on Alabama’s Accountability Program, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), student assessments, school choice, school rewards, and other pertinent information.
Immediately prior to the board meeting and news conference on Monday, Aug. 3, electronic information will be accessible on the Department of Education’s Web site at www.alsde.edu. Click on the “Accountability Reporting” button.
Directly after the board meeting and news conference, members of the State Department of Education will take questions from the media in P103-B in the Gordon Persons Building.
Reporters unable to attend the board meeting and news conference in person on Aug. 3, beginning at 9:30 a.m. can join on-line via Elluminate Live! Webinar. Complete instructions on how to participate in the webinar are below. The session will be recorded and can be accessed through the link below.

Instructions for Participating in Elluminate Live! Webinar
You will need to sign on 30 minutes before the session begins. Please do not wait until 9:30 a.m. to connect and check your system.
Here are some tips for successful participation in an Elluminate Live! Session:
Preparation
• If this is your first time to participate in an Elluminate session, please go to http://www.elluminate.com/support/ prior to the conference time (we suggest the day before) to verify that your computer has the necessary software needed to participate in the webinar.
• Take the Elluminate Live! Online Orientation or refer to the Elluminate Live! Participant Guide for information - http://www.elluminate.com/support/docs/8.0/participant.jsp - on all the features prior to your first session. This information and more is available from Elluminate’s Training Web page at http://www.elluminate.com/support/training.
• Ensure that your audio is working correctly prior to your session. Also, in order to speak during the session you will need a microphone (often built into systems).
In-Session

• Set your Connection Speed to the Internet.
• After joining the session, use the Audio Setup Wizard utility from the Tools menu to configure your microphone and speakers.

• Use Chat to send text messages to other participants and the moderator during the session. *Note – the moderator(s) can see ALL chats between the participants.
• Remember that running other applications on your computer can slow your connection to Elluminate Live!
