MONTGOMERY – Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded an $8,340 grant to provide new equipment for the Homewood Police Department.
The department will purchase and install in-car video camera systems in two patrol vehicles. Footage from the cameras can be used as evidence in court and as a training tool to ensure that officers follow proper procedures at the scene of an incident.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the Department of Justice. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, workforce development, energy conservation, economic development, water resource management and recreation.
Bentley notified Mayor Scott McBrayer that the grant had been approved.
