MONTGOMERY – Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded a $10,000 grant to provide equipment to the McKenzie Police Department.
The town, located in south Butler County, will use grant funds to purchase equipment, including in-car video cameras. The cameras will provide recordings that may used as evidence in court and also to train police officers, helping ensure that proper procedures are followed at the scene of an incident.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, workforce development, energy conservation, economic development, water resource management and recreation.
Bentley notified Mayor Lester Odom Jr. that the grant had been approved.
