MONTGOMERY— Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded a $6,036 grant to the Autauga County Commission to convert a cargo trailer into an emergency response trailer for the Sheriff’s Office.
After experiencing six tornadoes in 2011, Autauga County officials say they concluded that additional equipment would bolster response to future natural disasters. The grant will help equip the trailer with barricades, road-closed signs, traffic cones, flashlights, caution tape and a roof-mounted heat pump for air conditioning and heating.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, infrastructure upgrades, recreation, energy conservation, water resources, job training and career development.
Bentley notified Carl Johnson, County Commission chairman, that the grant had been approved.
