MONTGOMERY – Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded a $15,388 grant to help workers at a Baldwin County packaging company learn new job skills.
The grant to Gulf Packaging Inc. will provide training to four employees to help boost productivity. “Updated training for a company’s employees can increase production, help a company stay competitive and lead to higher wages for workers,” said Bentley. “I am pleased to help an Alabama-based company improve their operations.”
The company, based in Bay Minette, was established in 1990 and provides corrugated shipping boxes and supplies to customers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana.
The training will focus on methods to improve efficiency in the production process. The company is providing $15,388 toward the cost of the training which is being conducted onsite by Arden Software and Bobst Group.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Labor. ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, workforce development, energy conservation, economic development, water resource management and recreation.
Bentley notified Paul Morris, owner and general manager of Gulf Packaging, that the grant had been approved.
