A $6,040 grant awarded by Gov. Robert Bentley will help improve public safety and efficiency in the Goodwater Police Department.
The city will use the grant to upgrade computers in patrol vehicles. With computers in their vehicles, officers can quickly access the information they need and they can file reports from the scene of an incident. By eliminating the need to travel to the police station to file paperwork, officers can spend more time on patrol, preventing crimes and protecting residents.
Bentley notified Mayor Lonnie Caldwell that the funding had been approved. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs administers the grant program through its Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Division with funds obtained from the U.S. Department of Justice.
ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, workforce development, recreation, energy conservation and water resource management.
