MONTGOMERY— The Camp Hill Police Department was recognized by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for its recent work to curtail drunken driving during the 2010 “Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest” campaign.
ADECA ranked Camp Hill as best among 270 Alabama law enforcement agencies that participated in the traffic safety blitz which was part of a national campaign that takes place around the Labor Day holiday each year.
“Those who choose to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs pose a danger to every other motorist on the road,” said ADECA Director Doni Ingram. “I commend Chief Roosevelt Finley and the officers of the Camp Hill Police Department for their service and dedication to saving lives.”
J’Varra McCall, a manager with ADECA’s traffic safety program, presented an award and certificate to Chief Finley. ADECA provides grants for overtime pay to increase law enforcement presence during peak holiday travel periods.
Along with Camp Hill, the police departments of Athens and Bridgeport were also top performers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration sponsors the “Drunk Driving” campaign.
