MONTGOMERY— Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded a $79,200 grant to a nonprofit agency that serves victims of crime in Calhoun County.
The grant to Family Services Center of Calhoun County Inc. will help the organization continue offering free services such as clinical assessment, individual and group counseling and support to both children and adult crime victims.
“Crime victims need access to support services provided by caring professionals to begin the process of healing from trauma,” Ivey said. “I commend the staff of the Family Services Center for the invaluable work they do to serve their community.”
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice.
“Gov. Ivey understands the importance of ensuring crime victims are cared for, and ADECA joins her in commending the Family Services Center staff for the important work they do,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said.
Along with grants, the center relies on local, private donations to ensure that services are available year-round.
ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, water resource management, energy conservation and recreation development.
