MONTGOMERY– Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded an $834 grant to the city of Carbon Hill to purchase police equipment.
The police department will obtain body cameras for its officers. The camera footage provides evidence that can be used in court as well as for officer training.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management and recreation.
Bentley notified Mayor Mark Chambers that the grant had been approved.
