MONTGOMERY– Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded a $2,389 grant to the Randolph County Commission to purchase equipment for the Sheriff’s Office.

The funds will purchase equipment to use e-Cite, an electronic citation system used in patrol cars. The system increases accuracy and efficiency by printing tickets in-car and relaying the ticket information electronically, alleviating any potential handwriting legibility issues.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Justice Department. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, water resource management, energy conservation, economic development and recreation.

Bentley notified County Commission Chairman Larry Roberts that the grant had been approved.
