MONTGOMERY— The Henry County Sheriff’s Office will purchase new equipment with the help of a $9,999 grant awarded by Gov. Robert Bentley.
The Sheriff’s Office will purchase body cameras for deputies. The cameras will record interactions with residents, and the footage can be used for officer training or as evidence in court.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Justice Department. ADECA administers an array of programs supporting law enforcement and traffic safety, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management and recreation development.
Bentley notified David Money, chairman of the County Commission, that he had approved the grant.
