MONTGOMERY – Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded an $840 grant to equip the Butler Police Department with versatile body cameras.
The body cameras, which also can be used as in-car cameras, will record interactions with residents and the footage can be used for officer training or as evidence in court.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, water resource management, energy conservation and recreation.
Bentley notified Mayor Michael Williams that the grant had been approved.
