MONTGOMERY— Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded a $1,338 grant to help the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department obtain new equipment.

The Crenshaw County Commission will use the grant funds to buy new fire and health safety equipment for the Sheriff’s Department building and vehicles.

“Our law enforcement officers work tirelessly to ensure public safety and need access to the most up-to-date equipment possible to protect the public and themselves while on duty,” Ivey said. “I am pleased to assist Crenshaw County in obtaining this equipment for the Sheriff’s Department.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, infrastructure upgrades, recreation, energy conservation, water resources management and career development.

“ADECA supports Gov. Ivey’s efforts to properly equip the local law enforcement officers who protect and serve all of us,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “This grant will assist the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department in keeping the public and themselves safe.”

Ivey notified Crenshaw County Commission Chairman Charlie Sankey Jr. that the grant had been approved.
