MONTGOMERY—Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded a $9,146 grant to the Etowah County Commission to assist in the purchase of new computer equipment for the District Attorney’s Office.

The county will purchase new laptop computers, accessories and software for the DA’s office to use in managing case files and presenting evidence during trials.

“Presenting evidence promptly and clearly is vital to justice being served in criminal court cases,” Ivey said. “This new equipment will assist the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office in making that process flow more smoothly.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Justice Department.

“ADECA partners with law enforcement agencies across the state to ensure they have the proper equipment to perform their duties effectively,” ADECA Director Jim Byard Jr. said. “Our department is pleased to assist Etowah County equipping its attorneys with the equipment they need to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.”

Ivey notified Tim Choate, Etowah County Commission chairman, that she had approved the grant.
